We’re proud to say 100% grass fed farming is very much the norm in New Zealand. 100% grass fed animals are never confined to a feedlot.
Grass-fed meat is healthier, tastes better, has a superior omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio, higher levels of antioxidants, lower risk of E. coli infection and antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Sustainably Produced
According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation pasture that is rotationally grazed sequesters 50% more carbon than the same area of forestry. The carbon sequestered by grass makes a significant contribution to climate change and ultimately lowers our carbon footprint.
Ethically Sourced
Animals raised in grass-fed farming systems have better health, welfare and climate change outcomes.
Non-Genetically Modified Organisms
Genetic modification allows humans to make living things to our own design, without relying on nature. In New Zealand we are proudly non-GMO. To date, no fresh produce (meat, milk, eggs, fruit or vegetables) originating in New Zealand is genetically modified.
Free from Antibiotics and HGPs
In New Zealand the use of both Hormonal Growth Promotants (HGPs) and Antibiotics is unpopular and strictly controlled. Farmers using antibiotics to treat unwell animals must wait out lengthy with holding periods before animals can be processed.
Cage Free and Barn Raised
NZ chicken is in high demand around the world. Chickens are raised either in barns or free-range to a strict government mandated code of welfare. NZ is frequently described as the best place in the world to raise chickens. Our temperate climate, high standards of industry training, advanced systems and disease-free status produces tasty chickens for pet and human consumption alike. The Poultry Industry Association New Zealand works closely with vets, government, scientists and researchers to ensure that our birds remain healthy and disease free. Birds are traceable back to point of origin. New Zealand chicken used in Kiwi Country™ is cage free and barn raised.
